Let His Glory Flow Freely

Updated: Feb 22, 2023

("God's Unfolding Message" Series 1, Post 4)

Recently God has called me to start making YouTube videos as a new means in which to share my testimony. Although scary at first, also fulfilling and exciting as God’s call on my life is to testify by any means possible.

One of my strengths is that I get things done. If I have a specific project or goal in mind, you can bet that I will give my all towards it until it is completed. God created me this way and it is indeed a strength, but as we all know strengths can also become weaknesses, if we are not careful.

The other day eager to get started making some of these videos, I actually cut my quiet time with the Lord short. I had been reading through 1 Chronicles which can seem at times to be a little bit tedious as you read chapter after chapter of genealogies. Well, this wasn’t okay with God as I found out the next day.

I woke up the next day to hear God say “I love you, Susan. Testify. Hold nothing back. Susan, let My glory flow freely through you. Let MY glory flow freely through you.”

This isn’t the first time God has said to me, “Let My glory flow freely through you.” In fact, within my second book that is one of my chapter titles. Therefore, when God said that to me, I already knew what He meant. But, thus is the power of a testimony, especially one that is recorded, for since I have recorded my walk with the Lord and past lessons that He has taught me, I can go back to that reservoir of faith and remember and relearn.

Within that chapter and past lesson from my life, God taught me the importance of letting His Holy Spirit flow freely through me and I learned what it meant to worship Him uninhibitedly like Kind David had once done when he danced before the Lord with all his might (2 Samuel 6:14).

As the day continued, I began writing down a message God laid on my heart, a common practice on Sundays during this season of my life. But, this time something odd kept happening. My pens kept running out of ink. Had it just happened once I wouldn’t have thought anything about it, but it happened four times, two times at home and two more times once I got to church. Because of this, I knew God was speaking to me. I knew in my spirit that somehow this continuous loss of ink was meant to symbolize His Spirit and His ability to flow freely through me. To these thoughts, God spoke. He said, “Susan, let MY glory flow freely through you.”

I responded, “Am I not Lord?”

He answered, “You are Susan but make sure you continue to do so. It will become easy for you My little one who is eager to get things done, to ignore or rush time with Me. Do not skip this step. Seek first the Kingdom of God and all else will be added onto you. I know you are excited Susan and I have called you to boldness and to testify by any means possible, but this doesn’t give you permission to skip time with Me, for Susan, your stories come forth due to such time with Me.”

If you were to look at my journal you would easily see when one pen ran out and when I started a new one. It is the only place in my journal that looks disjointed like this. My pens were not allowing the ink to flow freely because they were running out of ink. What a wonderful picture to describe us and our need for the Holy Spirit. We are like pens, pens that God wants to use to write amazing stories, amazing testimonies, but we would be completely useless vessels if we had no ink. No stories would be written without this precious liquid. Oh, how we need the Holy Spirit within us, a fresh filling granted to us as we spend time in the presence of the Lord. How easy it is to forget that God promises that if we seek first Him and His Kingdom that He will in fact cause all else to be added unto us, even the time we need to make YouTube videos. David was one that danced before the Lord worshiping Him uninhibitedly and because of that look at his testimony. Look at what was written down with the “ink” in his pen, most of the Psalms, a truly amazing testimony. I am sure glad we have them.

Let us all remember to go to God first and be refilled with His Spirit on a regular basis so that in all we do, God will be the One whose glory flows freely through us, always. God is the One writing our stories, His Spirit through us, so we need to always have fresh ink.

Thank You Lord for this great and merciful reminder!
